Donning my wizard cloak

(hooded jacket: Inner Child, skirt: BDG, boots: Modcloth.com)

I have to be in a splendid mood to wear this garment of whimsicality. It makes me feel like a kooky but kindly enchantress that keeps a sanctuary for magical creatures (oh I wish). As you can see, it is a poncho with buttons down the inner sides of the arms. I like the range of motion I have in it, and it is very comfy, but it becomes a problem when trying to slip it under a coat. I suppose it's vibrancy is meant for warmer months. I had planned on wearing it at work, but it was too hot and I had to cast it off. It will emerge another day.

This jacket also brings my thoughts to this track off the new Four Tet album to be released on the 25th. I will leave you with it now.

My mom has given me the mission of selling her fantastically gorgeous collection of antique purses, handbags and finger bags. All of them are fine examples of chain work, beading, and embroidery, but these two are my favorites of each technique. You'll be seeing more of them and links for purchase as I continue to photograph them.

I wore this outfit on my first day officially moved back home. I've made some major life changes recently (hopefully for the better, but tumultuous all the same) and I have been taking the opportunity to get some much needed rest. The best therapy I could ask for is a cup of St. Johns Wort tea and some cute animals to cuddle. And happily for me, my mom's house is full of critters. Today I'm introducing you to Maow Maow the silly white prince of a cat.

I often customize my clothing to my level of eccentricity and this sweater is a prime example of that. I've free-handed a copy of the illustration on the cover of one of my favorite novels, Tom Robbin's Still Life With Woodpecker onto a piece of thick white jersey with a permanent fine-tip marker, cut it out, and carefully stitched it onto the sweater with embroidery floss. This is also a great way to give new life to any graphic tshirts you've grown tired of wearing normally.

Now to share with you the video for July Flames, the title track off Laura Veirs' new album that was released today.
